RAWHIDE & KANGAROO LEATHER LACE FOR BRAIDING
Are you a braider in search of quality kangaroo leather and rawhide lace?  I have been braiding for 9 years and have cut my own lace from rawhide rounds and kangaroo hides.  I purchase rawhide rounds for braiding from Bill Confer at Tejas Industries (formerly Hereford Byproducts) and kangaroo hides from either Sheridan Leather or Hardtke Leather.

Rawhide is cut into widths ranging from 3/32" to 1/4".  It is split to the desired thickness and beveled on all 4 edges.  When beveling, I take off the equivalent to a sewing thread on the hair side and slightly more on the flesh side.  I prefer the darker, natural colored rawhide to the bleached rawhide, and that is what I purchase.

Kangaroo hides are cut into narrow strips and treated with a white gas/paraffin wax solution like the old timers used to do.  The wax permeates the leather making it stronger and water resistant.  It also gives the kangaroo strings enough tack that I do not need to use soap when braiding.  After it is dry, I cut it into lace and bevel all four sides.  I have not found a need to split the kangaroo leather.  Kangaroo leather comes in a light natural, chestnut, brown and black.

Please email me (Ann) @ reinmaker@netptc.net for more information or prices.

Rawhide lace is Ann's 1/8" natural, beveled all 4 sides

Price List:
I can cut widths and lengths to your order.  Prices listed are for the more common sizes.

Kangaroo lace is beveled on all 4 sides; however, I do not take a whole lot off.  I just want to knock off the edges so to speak.  A fine thread is taken off of the hair side and slightly more from the flesh side.  Grade "A" is the inner circle.  Grade "B" is the outer circle.  Both are extremely nice and ready to braid.  Grade "A" is just a little heavier than Grade "B".
I have Brandy (dark brown), Whiskey (more of a chestnut or deep saddle tan) and Natural (light tan).  If you have a special request, I'll see what I can do.

3/32" lace "A"  $1.20/foot
3/32" lace "B"  $1.00/foot
1/8"   lace "A"  $1.40/foot
1/8"   lace "B"  $1.20/foot

Rawhide lace is beveled all 4 sides and I take slightly more off than I do on the kangaroo lace.  It is split to a thickness that I feel is right for braiding.  Lace for knots and buttons are split a little bit more.

3/32" lace $1.00/foot
1/8"   lace $1.20/foot
